ABOUT KIRSTEN
I founded Queen of the Meadow in 2019 after I retrained as a florist at the Tallulah Rose Flower School. I provide beautiful floral design for weddings and events using seasonal and artisan British flowers.
Based in rural Neath in South Wales, I work from my studio on a farm. I a keen gardener and grow many varieties of flowers and foliage for use in my floral artistry. Within the cutting garden are several ducks and chickens which roam the garden and farm freely, keeping the snail and slug population down.
Sustainability and an eco conscious mindset are the core values of Queen of the Meadow, I do not use any floral foam in my work, using only traditional methods of flower arranging instead.

KIRSTEN’S STYLE
I create floral works of art for weddings and events using untamed flowers and foliage found growing naturally in the British Isles. My creations evoke a walk through a rambling cottage garden by using beautiful scented flowers from my own cutting garden, local growers and flower markets.
I take my inspiration from my rural surroundings, looking to the past for influence, creating natural, winsome and romantic flowers. My work reflects the changing seasons, whether it is a tumbling hedgerow in Autumn or a farm meadow in summer.
I cover Wales and the South of England and love to travel if the brief is right.

HER FLOWERS AND ETHOS
I source predominantly all my flowers from local growers and I also grow unusual varieties of flowers and foliage at home in the cutting garden which creates something very unique for each wedding. Working with seasonal British flowers helps me connect with nature and ensures that the most organic forms are used in my work as well as using as many wiggly and wild stems!
Working with British growers where possible ensures that less air miles are used, it supports the British growing industry and uses flowers that have not been subjected to pesticides.
I never use floral foam or any type of floral bricks as these are not biodegradable and are a single use plastic. By not using floral foam there is a truly natural and loose feel to my work. I do not use cellophane either, replacing this with re-useable and recyclable materials instead.
“My workshop sits in the garden surrounded by the chatter of the birds, this helps me to connect with nature.”
